You're Just a ___

To the part of me that always tells me I'm just a ___

Y

Yalis

You ever have that voice in your head, or that part of you that tells you something like —

A

Alex

You know you're just a writer that talks to themselves right?

Y

Yalis

Hey... dude... Was just talking about you.

A

Alex

Yeah? But have you ever realized that?

All you do is write and talk to yourself. Maybe eat and drink. Walk around...

I'm just telling it like it is..

Y

Yalis

Okay...

Alex

All you do is write and talk to yourself. Maybe eat and drink. Walk around...

So what?

A

Alex

So... you're nothing special... and what you do isn't impressive at all.

Y

Yalis

Gee, thanks...

But so what? So I'm not special. So what I do isn't impressive. And?

A

Alex

And... It's not enough.

Y

Yalis

There it is.

A

Alex

Why aren't you doing more?

Y

Yalis

What more would I do anyway?

A

Alex

I don't know dude... Something. Anything!

Y

Yalis

Why do I have to be doing more?

Thank you. I'm glad you're looking out for me. I'm grateful you show up and tell me when you think I'm falling short, when you think I'm "not enough" and when you think I'm about to fail. But so what?

Nothing will ever be enough for you. That's your job. That's what you are. "Not enough". And I'm grateful. Truly. But you need to stop talking right now. I'm tired. Nothing will ever satisfy or satiate you. Nothing will ever be good enough for you. And I know why. And that's okay. But chill dude. You're not helping right now. Thank you. But it's alright.
